The Painters Are Here… (UPDATE)

As you may have noticed, the #800 building is pretty much completed, the #900 building is mostly done and we’re getting ready to work on the #700 building.  Mahalo to those who prepped their units before the painters arrived – we had very little disruption to their routine and the job is going pretty smoothly.  Here are a few things we learned along the way:

• The contractor gives Guy Mazzanti his work plan for the week, then modifies it as he goes along.  DK Painting is spraying the majority of the surface area on the buildings – it provides excellent coverage and looks great, but the process is very much dependent on the weather.  We’ve asked him to be optimistic about what he intends to get done because we’d rather prepare and then be delayed than to not be ready when they are.  Please be patient with us as we work our way through the property – all of us want to get this job done right.
• The pressure washing around the windows has been a bit of a problem for several owners.  The contractor does the best he can, but jalousie windows, even new ones, are built for water coming DOWN, not from any other angle.  On the day that the building is washed, you probably should expect a small amount of water coming through the windows and plan accordingly.
• Only the units that the painters are working on will get notices placed in their doors regarding work plans.  We may ask other residents to move their vehicles if we think there may be an issue with overspray.  No problems so far…
• The contractor does not plan on working the week between Christmas and New Year.

As with most of our projects, if you experience issues with this project you should start by talking to the Resident Manager, Guy Mazzanti, or Board Member Ernie Provencher (#126).  The Board is not scheduled to meet again until 17 January 2017 but we will address any issues that come up prior to that meeting.
